A novelty for all dog lovers has arrived on our shelves - a cotton cap with a dachshund will help you express your affection for these unique creatures. The gray baseball cap is the perfect accessory for summer, which will not only emphasize your love for four-legged dogs, but also protect you from the heat. You can also find curious dachshunds on our doggie socks. This way you can equip yourself with the whole set right away. Although dachshunds look like they were made to sit on your lap and pose for photos on Instagram, their roots are much more.... combative. The breed originated in Germany and was bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Due to their low stature and elongated body shape, dachshunds easily entered tight burrows. At the same time, the dogs were very brave and were not afraid of meeting animals much larger than themselves. Today, dachshunds are bred primarily as domestic dogs, which are great companions for people. The name “dachshund” comes from the word “den” - exactly the place into which this dog was supposed to squeeze without a shadow of hesitation. Interestingly, dachshunds were so prized by the German aristocracy that they even found their way to the royal courts. King Edward VII owned a dachshund named Caesar, who was his faithful companion until his death.

A small dog - a great personality

If you are wondering how to describe a dachshund in one sentence, it sounds more or less like this: „słodki uparciuch z duszą aktora dramatycznego”. Dachshunds are extremely intelligent, but at the same time they can be very independent and fierce. On the one hand, it is a faithful, devoted and loving dog to its owner, on the other hand, it will gladly behave in its own way, even if it knows all the commands. Their strong hunting instinct still makes itself known - they like to dig, chase birds and sniff around the apartment. Some individuals treat every walk as a great hunting expedition, and every leaf on the lawn - as a potential threat. Dachshund is also a family dog that gets along well with children (as long as the children respect his space). He likes to be the center of attention, needs a lot of affection and... can be jealous of his owner. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties: short-haired, long-haired and rough-haired - each with a slightly different temperament. Rough-haired are often more wiry and confident.
