Reindeer, candies, Christmas trees and snowflakes, all in winter colors. It is hard to resist a model with so much charm.

Santa Claus, Angel or Grandfather Frost?

Santa Claus customs vary from region to region. In Poland itself you will find many different traditions, e.g. in Kashubia and Wielkopolska the Star brings presents, while in the Małopolska region the Angel is responsible for it. However, nowadays the most popular is the American image of Santa Claus, which has been present in pop culture since the 1930s. It all started with a producer of famous sodas. It was decided that the image of the bishop of Myra has no marketing potential because it is too serious. A well-known American artist, Fred Mizen, was asked to create a new image of Santa Claus. The result was a friendly old man with a beard. Nowadays, it is hard to imagine Santa Claus without his characteristic red outfit, a hat with a pompom, and a bag of presents. It didn't take long for the American image to gain extraordinary popularity in other parts of the world as well. However, if we look at the traditions of other countries, it turns out that not only Santa Claus is a perfect day for giving gifts. In Russia, the day of giving gifts is New Year's Day. This is a busy time no longer for Santa Claus, but for Grandfather Frost. What does he look like? He is also old, but still has a lot of energy. He is usually dressed in a long light sheepskin coat and has a warm earflap on his head. In addition, she abandons the chimney in favor of simply walking in through the front door. The Italian witch Befana, who gives out gifts on Epiphany, has taken a liking to the chimney.
