Charming stinker, or skunk socks

Socks with skunks

A whole herd of skunks have taken up residence on our unmatched socks. The white and black animals proudly display their fluffy tails. The skunk socks capture the full charm of these animals, and at the same time do not carry the danger that an encounter with a real skunk has. Although the animal looks extremely cuddly, it is famous for its secret weapon, which is a very intense stench. However, skunks only use their unusual ability when threatened. It is a weapon against predators. It is also better not to frighten a skunk, as it can easily recognize that you want to do it harm. It is the frightened skunk that is most dangerous. It knows perfectly well that there is little point in running away, and that it will more effectively defend itself from a predator using its scent. The pungent odor is created in the anal glands of the skunk. It retains its effectiveness even at a distance of about 6 meters. What kind of scent is it actually? Opinions vary. Some say that the smell resembles the pungent odor of sulfur, while for others the stench is a combination of the smell of gasoline and burnt hay. What remains certain is that it can take up to a couple of days to get rid of the smell from the skin. What else is worth knowing about skunks? They are solitary animals that mostly feed at night. They sleep in burrows, while they feed primarily on small invertebrates, as well as fish, reptiles and seeds. Most skunks live in the United States, Canada and Mexico. However, thanks to skunk socks, now you will be able to admire these unique mammals on a daily basis as well.

Romantic or stalker?

Skunks can also arouse considerable emotions, especially one of their representatives. We are talking about Pepe Le Pew, whom Polish viewers have come to know by the name Pepe Le Swąd. The cartoon skunk is one of the protagonists of Crazy Tunes. The cartoon series is a true classic especially for people growing up in the 1980s and 1990s. At the time, Pepe was seen as a true romantic, whose life is filled primarily with romances. However, along with the new times, the reception of the skunk also changed. The discussion emerged with the start of production of the second part of Space Jam. Charles M. Blow, a journalist for the New York Times, noted that Pepe's behavior is questionable, to say the least. The character never takes no for an answer and never stops his courtship, even when the object of his affections clearly objects. As a result, Warner Bros. studio decided to remove scenes featuring Pepe from the film. The decision was met with a mixed reception. Many say it was the only right reaction, but others consider it an overreaction. There are also very frequent voices accusing the label of laziness. Supporters of this view believe that the studio missed a perfect opportunity to show how one should react to unwanted advances. The recorded sequence was to include a scene in which Pepe talks about getting a court restraining order against his cat Penelope. Socks with skunks may become the impetus for a discussion about the controversial cartoon character. It's one of those topics that can be talked about all night long.
