Movember and socks with moustaches

The Movember action has been repeated in Poland since 2014. What is it for? First of all, to make men and their loved ones aware of the importance of prevention, which can protect against testicular and prostate cancer. Now you can support the action not only in November, but also in every other month, and all thanks to unique socks for men. PLN 5 from the sale of each pair goes to the Movember Poland Foundation. This is how you gain a stylish accessory and support a good cause. It all started in 2003 in Australia, when two buddies, Travis Garone and Luke Slattery, decided to get back to wearing moustaches and encouraged their friends to do the same. All new participants paid $10 and invited others to join. The money raised in this way was donated to a foundation specializing in prostate cancer research. With each passing year, the event grew in popularity. Currently, people from all over the world take part in Movember, and the moustache, grown in November, has become a symbol of the fight against cancer. One of the tasks of the action is to break social and cultural taboos, which are still very strong. Unfortunately, a harmful model of masculinity has been instilled in many men, according to which every man must hide his feelings and weaknesses, and therefore not complain about his health. Not only does this reproduce gender stereotypes, but it also discourages people from taking care of their health. Movember emphasizes the extreme importance of both physical and mental health. Speaking up about your ailments and especially prevention can save lives. Testicular cancer is curable in up to 100% of patients, but the strongest ally in the fight is time. According to research, one in three men between the ages of 50 and 80 will develop prostate cancer, and after the age of 80 the risk of the disease increases up to 80%. These numbers can be frightening, but the diagnosis is not synonymous with the sentence. The symbolic growing of a moustache is a good excuse to start a conversation about the need for prevention. By getting yourself examined, you can save your life or the life of your loved ones.

Flower of Womanhood and breast socks

November is the month focusing on men's health, while October was dedicated to women's prevention. If your friend, mother or wife hasn't had her check-up yet, you should encourage her to take care of her health. In our offer you will find special women's socks with a mission coming from the cooperation with the All-Poland Organization 'The Flower of Womanhood'. 5 PLN from the sale of each pair is donated to the Organization whose aim is to increase women's awareness and encourage them to get tested. Every year as many as 6 thousand Polish women die of breast cancer. This is a terrifying number, which could be much lower with early detection of cancer. In addition to breast cancer, women are also at risk of cervical cancer and ovarian cancer. Preventive screenings can save lives. The organization conducts social campaigns and educational actions, which aim to raise awareness of the importance of the problem. It is very important, among other things, because unfortunately there is still a conviction in many circles that genital cancer is a threat only to women after menopause. It is true that women over 45 are most at risk, but the disease also affects younger women. Already after the age of 20 one should go for a breast USG at least once a year, and after the age of 40 mammography is also necessary. Self-examination of breasts is also an important issue. It is just a few minutes every month, and they can save lives. As many as half a million women die from breast cancer each year worldwide. This number could be much lower, but prevention is a prerequisite.
