Socks with frogs

Frog socks

Some people love them, while others run away from them in droves. What is certain, however, is that sock frogs, unlike their living prototype, always inspire complete sympathy. Our socks with frogs are an excellent choice both for those who love these friendly amphibians and for those who have yet to be convinced by them. Socks with frogs are also an ideal gift for a loved one. Perhaps a caressing diminutive for your other half is just a frog? Or maybe you are the one who thinks that love has changed you and, just like in fairy tales, a magical kiss has transformed you from a frog into a prince? In fact, any reason is good to buy yourself a new pair of cheerful socks. In Poland, we associate frogs primarily with small amphibians, but did you know that in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea there is a species of frog that weighs as much as 3 kilograms? However, the shy goliath is said to have an extremely friendly nature. There are also extremely small frogs, such as the glass frog. It reaches only 3 cm in length, but it is not at all its tiny size that is its most original feature. This is because the glass frog has transparent skin and muscles, so you can perfectly see its internal organs. This unusual feature allows for great camouflage from predators. Probably in medieval Torun there were neither glass frogs nor shy goliaths, but from one legend we learn that the city of Nicolaus Copernicus was once visited by a great plague of frogs.

How to talk to frogs?

There are many monuments in Toruń, but it is with the creation of one of them that an old legend is connected. In the Middle Ages, Toruń was in a real boom. Many merchant routes intersected within the city, making the city increasingly rich. The mayor decided to expand the metropolitan area and drain the marshes beneath the city. When he arrived there with his entourage, he encountered a mother with two young children on his way. The woman confessed that she had nothing to live on and asked to be admitted to the city. The men quickly chased the beggar woman away. They didn't even have time to move away when the woman transformed into a witch. The magician said that the city, which respects neither the needy nor the natural world, will now learn what the struggle for survival is. The woman disappeared and not even an hour had passed when the entire city of Torun was filled with frogs. The scourge made residents terrified, and led to the collapse of many businesses. Merchants began to avoid Torun, fearing for their health. The despairing mayor announced that he who would get rid of the plague would shower him with gold, and furthermore offer him the hand of his only child. At the same time, a young raftsman returned to the city, who, as soon as he saw the mayor's daughter, fell in great love with her. The young man grabbed his fiddle. At the sound of the song, all the frogs set off after the raftsman. The man led them out into the wetlands, which henceforth became the amphibians' home. Soon the wedding of the raftsman and the mayor's daughter took place. Legend has it that this was a very successful marriage, which took care of all people, as well as every living thing.
