Have you ever heard of the Strawberry Princess? The legend is best known in the land of Podlasie, which it directly relates to. In remote times, the world was immersed in greyness and sadness. Everything seemed to be indifferent. People were dragging themselves through life, not taking any joy from it. However, there was one man who managed to discover the recipe for happiness. The secret belonged to the ruler of a distant land. The good king could not bear the sadness of his subjects and decided to share his knowledge with them. The king's daughter became the messenger. The girl was famous for her incredible beauty and even more beautiful heart. The maiden stood in the local square and began to treat passersby to juicy red fruit. With just one bite, a person regained the joy of life and again saw the world in delightful colors. Since then, the king's daughter started to be called Strawberry Princess, and her statue was erected in Korycin, the place where the story took place. The sculpture shows a beautiful woman dressed in a strawberry gown. The girl's head is decorated with a stalk, while in her hands there is a tiny strawberry. The monument was made of bronze and measures 2 meters high. On the lower plates is engraved the legend of the Strawberry Princess. Every year, Korycin hosts the All-Polish Strawberry Days. It's a great opportunity to taste the sweet fruit, as well as to take part in a competition for the best strawberry cake or a strawberry eating contest in time. For such an exceptional event, there is no better choice than socks with strawberries.
