Christmas socks

St. Nicholas' Day is the day that starts the Christmas atmosphere for good. Christmas decorations and ornaments are already visible in stores, and the streets sparkle with lights. It used to be that on December 5, you would put your beautifully polished shoes out in the hallway for Santa Claus to leave a gift in them. The morning of December 6 was filled with joy as children discovered candy and toys in their shoes. Adulthood has sadly supplanted this custom, but there are still ways to celebrate Santa Claus. One of them is giving a loved one Christmas socks. Such a gift will surely bring a wide smile to the face of your boyfriend or friend. Christmas socks come in many different designs. Some are funny and some are elegant. So you can easily choose something for every person. You can even gift the whole family. An absolute Christmas classic are socks with a nutcracker. The model refers to one of the most beautiful stories which are inevitably associated with the December time. The extraordinary atmosphere of Christmas is also reflected in the socks depicting Christmas by the fireplace. Snow-covered trees and houses and a crackling fire in the fireplace remind of a real winter idyll. On the other hand, fans of crazy patterns will like socks with reindeers. Depending on the pair, the nice animals decided to decorate the Christmas tree or to play merry tricks. Each model is different and unique, but all of them perfectly reflect the Christmas atmosphere.

Santa Claus traditions

Modern Santa Claus traditions probably date back to the 15th century, when they were recorded in numerous sources from Poland, Czech Republic, Holland, Germany or Belgium. Already then it was believed that St. Nicholas gives presents to good children on his feast day. Depending on the region, the gifts were e.g. fruit or cakes. In Poland there are several different traditions. Some people leave presents in their shoes or socks, others hide them under their pillows. However, the tradition itself was popular already in the Middle Ages, thanks to the plays about the life of St. Nicholas. They were performed every year on December 6, and one of the most popular ones concerned the legend of St. Nicholas' neighbor. The man mocked the future bishop's piety and was greedy. He soon lost all his possessions and fell into poverty. He had three daughters growing up, whom he could no longer support and did not have the means to prepare a dowry for them. Since he could not marry them off without this, he decided to sell them. St. Nicholas heard about it and decided to help his neighbor's family. For three nights he threw packages of money through the neighbor's window, which were to be used as dowries for other girls. It was not until the third time that the neighbor managed to see his benefactor. His surprise was enormous, and his shame even greater. From that moment on, he decided to change his life and act in such a way as not to hurt anyone and be a support for his loved ones.
