Why was the black-and-white animal doomed to cinematic obscurity? All because of his controversial habits. As a child, most of us did not notice that there was anything inappropriate in the behavior of the friendly skunk. Rather, he resembled a romantic hero who, despite his efforts, fails to win the heart of his chosen one. However, a New York Times journalist pointed out that the fairy tale is perceived quite differently being an adult, especially at a time when abuse and harassment are finally being spoken out loud. It turns out that Pepe ignored the refusal of Penelope's cat and continued to force himself on her. From an adult's perspective, these scenes raise many questions. As a result, Warner Bros. studio decided to remove the parts with Pepe from the film. This action became the beginning of a discussion about correctness in the film.
