Apples can be discussed not only in the context of gastronomy and health, but also culture. For centuries, the apple has been a very important symbol. Mention can be made of the Bible, but also Greek mythology and the story of the apple of discord. The myth is set during an extremely sumptuous feast attended by many gods. The wedding of Thetis and Peleus was an occasion for celebration, but also for betting. Chaos and quarrels seemed only a matter of time when the goddess of discord was among the guests. Eris knew exactly how to create confusion and sow doubt in the hearts of the guests. The winged goddess threw a golden apple among the guests, on which was written - for the most beautiful one. The shiny fruit was spotted by Hera, Athena and Aphrodite. For each of them, the victory was not only a source of pride, but also the satisfaction of defeating their rivals. Zeus decided that the final decision would be made by Paris and it was he who would present the apple to the most beautiful goddess. Each of the ladies tried to tempt the Trojan prince with a vision of a great prize. Athena promised him wisdom, Hera assured him that he would gain power, while Aphrodite offered to give him the most beautiful woman as his wife. The young man acceded to the last goddess' offer, and from then on it was Aphrodite who held the title of most beautiful.
