Is vegetarianism healthy?

A well-balanced vegetarian diet can have many health benefits. It happens to be recommended precisely because of its positive effects on the human body. Vegetarians have a low risk of developing type 2 diabetes. In addition, the likelihood of hypercholesterolemia, cardiovascular disease and hypertension is significantly reduced. All due to the fact that vegetarians generally consume little animal fats, which are a source of saturated fatty acids and cholesterol. Among other things, a vegetarian diet is recommended for people with metabolic problems. Products of plant origin are rich in dietary fiber, which accelerates intestinal peristalsis. This improves digestion and, consequently, can lead to weight loss. Compared to carnivores, vegetarians are much less likely to experience problems related to overweight or obesity. With a plant-based diet, a person provides the body with an unusually large number of vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and antioxidants. However, it should be remembered that switching to vegetarianism should be a conscious and responsible decision. Otherwise, you can easily harm your body and lead to deficiencies in protein, iron or vitamins D and B12. Vegetarianism is considered a healthy and valuable diet, but a necessary condition is to compose one's meals thoughtfully, so that they do not lack essential elements for life.
