Socks for Women's Day

For many years Women's Day in Poland was associated mainly with the communist era and the 1970s. At that time men were obliged to give all their girlfriends symbolic carnations, and women had no choice but to enjoy such a predictable gift. Fortunately, with the passing of time Women's Day has been disenchanted and is now considered a joyful holiday that is a celebration of femininity. It is also the time heralding the arrival of spring, so floral motifs are still popular among gifts for women. However, instead of carnations, it is much better to bet on something more original. Your wife, mother, sister or friend will surely be happy with unique floral socks. The pattern depicts a spring meadow, which makes you want to go for a long walk right away. Socks with animals are also a great gift. This way, you show that you know the other person's preferences. Socks with cats will be perfect for ladies who cannot imagine life without purring quadrupeds. There are also socks with dogs. In such a model, you even have to go for a walk with your pet. On the other hand, lovers of exotic animals will surely like socks with toucans.

Where did Women's Day come from?

International Women's Day was first celebrated in 1909 in the United States. A year earlier, on March 8, a march took place in the streets of New York City, in which 15,000 female garment workers took part. Women demanded political and economic rights. Two years later, Women's Day was established in Copenhagen to be celebrated worldwide. The conference was attended by more than 100 participants from as many as 17 countries. The purpose of the established holiday was to spread the idea of women's rights, including the right to vote. In 1911, International Women's Day was celebrated in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Denmark. In these countries, demands for the extension of women's rights became popular. Among other things, they demanded suffrage, but also the right to hold public office and receive vocational training. They also demanded an end to discrimination. Over the years, Women's Day was filled with strikes and demonstrations in which women fought for their rights and equal treatment. Today, March 8 is a holiday associated mainly with giving gifts and paying compliments. However, it is worth remembering what a long way women had to go and what it cost them to fight for a decent fate.
